Acid Sign
baking powder + citric acid. signs of chemical change?
When baking powder and citric acid are mixed, what are the signs of chemical change? I already have change in temperature and gas production.
THANKS!
Baking powder is a base, and citric acid is, of course, an acid. In any acid-base reaction, the products are always water and a salt, so you should look for production of water. And yes, there would be a change in temperature since every reaction is either endothermic or exothermic. Color change and change in pH are other indicators of chemical change.
