Tank Reservoir
Harley or buell oil tank placement? Does it have to be above engine?
Does the engine oil tank reservoir need to be located above the engine? Is it gravity fed because i would like to have a custom one made in the shape of a chin spoiler for my buell S3 thunderbolt? Any one know how large it needs to be and whether or not it is gravity feed to engine or pumped? Thanx so much guys your always of help.
It is not gravity fed, it is pumped, so it can be lower than the engine. I have seen a lot of custom frames with the oil tank built into the frame in the space bellow the transmission.
It needs to hold 3 quarts, minimum. This is what limits where you can put it due to size.
Making it look like a chin spoiler and not be too big will be a challenge, while still holding 3 quarts, but give it a shot. Stranger things have been done.
PS it will require some serious fabrication skills and some imagination. It will be expensive!
